As the national focal point for contemporary figurative art, Mall Galleries plays host to the New English Art Club’s Annual Exhibition. In order to promote the society and the 2022 exhibition, we were commissioned to make a film introducing the NEAC and its mission. Founded in the 19th Century, the New English traces its history through artists as diverse as Stanley Spencer, David Bomberg, Vanessa Bell and Gwen John. Filming with three current members, our aim was to portray the ethos of the society: creating works informed by the visual world and personal interpretation, underpinned by drawing.
